I started playing the guitar in 1989, moving between
acoustic, slide and electric over the next 20 years.
Between 1995 and 1999, I began to experiment with mutli-track tape technology which I used to record demo-versions of self written tracks.
This culminated in a series of vocal demos recorded using a Tascam porta-studio in 1998/99 and also a number of experimental instrumental demos. During this period I also played casually with several bands; mostly concentrating on Acid Jazz and Funk in the Blackpool. Lancaster and Fleetwood areas.
In Spring 1998 I joined a 5 piece band in Newcastle, named ‘Relay’ (and which were also called ‘Meantime’ for a short spell in 1999 for some gigs at the Black Swan on Westgate Rd in Newcastle). During this period I recorded with members of the group on a variety of different projects….some of which can be heard on this site.
In terms of the progression of that band, I contributed a number of tracks to our live set and played a fairly central role in both developing arrangements and in the band’s s

ound engineering. The recording area of the bands activities overtook my i
nterests in playing live and in 1999 I moved to digital home recording using Cubase, Fruity Loops and later Pro Tools.
Using these new recording techniques, I began to reconstruct and re-record a number of tracks originally demo-ed on earlier 4 track recordings, some of which can be heard in the archive.
After leaving ’Relay’ in 2000, I became much more interested in electronically based musical experimentation which centered around my developing understanding of the digital recording process. The first few resulting tracks developed from here into mini-projects in Midi song structuring and electronic song construction.
After a 2 year break (2002-2004) and some dabbling in
video projects I began seriously recording again in the Autumn of 2004, creating a series of more elaborately constructed and carefully produced electronic songs (all of which were based on the earlier Midi experiments).
This brings me to the present; 2009, which sees me currently working on a 4 track Dub project as well as on a number of new acoustic/ vocal tracks.
