This page contains tracks that I have recorded that I either particular like or would like to draw attention to! As usual, you can either listen to these using the links or download them using the column on the far left!
This is still one of my favourites...the sound collage element at the start is made up of snippets of TV shows from the time and there is a phone ring half way through which happenend whilst I was recording the acoustic guitar sections...I left this is as a nod to Zeppelin's 'The Ocean' which has a similar phone related accident in it...
Around this time I started to make short films rather than music as a primary creative focus...the 'sample a source' method of working with images and sounds seemed to lead me to start filming things which could be looped repeatedly... this started off using grass and leaves blowing on trees and which lent themselves to being looped (they looked like the jumped when looped). And then during a holiday to the Dominican Republic I filmed some fish in a stream...when these were looped they seemed to create quite interesting rhythms which was endless and quite unatural. After a week or so of messing about with the fim (made up of about 40 or so 1 second clips of the fish) I started to create 1 and 2 second guitar loops to put over the top...in the end, the film was left unfinished and I moved back to making sample based tunes...
Written over Christmas 1998 and then recorded in September 1999. Drums are played by Tom English in his mighty drum room...still one of my favourites!
The orginal Midi experiment from 2005 and still my fave!
